I am a senior IT Technologist with experience developing software in many environments with many tools. I have a high level security clearance. For the last five years I have been developing cost and planning models using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Visual Basic for Applications for intelligence and defence agencies. Prior to these assignments, I spent five years building client server applications using PowerBuilder, C, UNIX, and Sybase for a DoD client. I am familiar with Sybase installation and administration on HPUX and Win NT and application development using shell scripting, C, Transact–SQL, CT–Library, Embedded SQL, and PowerBuilder. I was responsible for the full life cycle of requirements determination, design, development, testing, installation, and system administration.
I have in–depth experience with application and database design, development, and administration. I have been trained in and used the Yourdon Design methodology. I am familiar with most design methodologies used in commercial and DoD environments including IDEF. I have used Excelerator, Erwin, XCase, Visio, Lotus Notes, and the MS Office suite of software for requirements capture and system design. I have worked in JAD sessions. I have been a technical team leader and have written a project management application using Lotus Notes. In my last project, I was responsible for the full life cycle of requirements determination, design, development, testing, installation, and system administration. I am also experienced with financial modeling, data mining, and statistical analysis. I have worked on business process redesign projects and am familiar with work flow modeling. I have some training and familiarity with SEI CMM and have worked in a level 3 certified development environment. I am expert in IBM MVS, UNIX, and MS Windows OS, having designed and developed applications for all these environment using COBOL, assembler, C, and various 4GLs. I am proficient in PowerBuilder, expert in C and Sybase, and am familiar with the MS Visual development environment.
I have experience designing and building integration between mainframe legacy systems and new client server systems at Navy Shipyards and the Defense Logistics Agency.
I have experience with project management at a technical level. This experience includes financial modeling, building a project management application in Lotus Notes, experience with cost analysis at U.S. Army Cost and Economic Analysis Center (USACEAC), project management support at U. S. Navy Shipyards, and supporting the project management function on DoD task orders (i.e. measuring progress and cost). I did a study for USACEAC to determine how to forecast R&D expenditures and track expenses against the forecast. This provided me with experience in R&D management and the use of appropriate statistical methods.
My Masters Degree includes a specialty in Information Science which deals specifically with unstructured data (i.e. document storage and retrieval). I have worked as an indexer and abstracter of technical literature, another facet of dealing with unstructured data. I am familiar with the inverted database structure, commonly used for unstructured data, as well as relational, network, hierarchical, and CODASYL. I designed and built a Lotus Notes application to store and retrieve documents for a DoD agency that used LN:DI for image storage, OCR for full text, and classification, annotation, and indexing for retrieval.
I have five years of experience building financial models that provided cash flow, budget, forecast, and actual calculations. Other analysis included project planning. These models included sophisticated numerical methods and statistical analysis.
At Control Data Corporation, I was a commissioned Technical Representative where good communication skills were essential to my success. I was a Senior Systems Marketing Representative at Control Data Corporation for ten years. My compensation was an 80/20 split of salary and commission with a bonus plan for exceeding the revenue growth quota. The CDC division was the Service Bureau Company (SBC) that had been a division of IBM. I received a typical IBM sales training and practice. We practiced solution sales of a technical product where our prospects were typically at the CFO and COO level. I'm experienced in all the sales cycle from qualifying prospects, determining their needs, understanding their organizations, presenting potential fits to our products and services, trial closes, and getting contracts signed. My particular role emphasized growing revenue with existing clients which was more technically oriented. I also supported the Marketing Representatives (60/40 salary/commission split with key new account bonuses) in their entire sales cycle leading to new accounts. I wrote many proposals, made many impromptu and prepared presentations, and taught classes to client personal, and mentored new hires.
I am familiar with HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, etc. as you can note by checking my web site at: http://www.broadrunit.com and http://www.goodshepherdaoc.org Feel free to explore these web sites. All the code and content were written by myself.
